Content Creator Photoshoot in San Juan

A practical plan for creators and small brands: looks, locations, shot list and how to walk away with 30 days of content.

Content Creator Photoshoot in San Juan - photo session in San Juan, Puerto Rico documented by Kevin Mumaw (KMPhoto)

If you post every day, one good session should carry you for weeks. The trick is planning the session like a content calendar instead of a photo shoot.

Start with the posts, not the photos

Before we shoot, write down the 10 to 15 posts you actually need: a carousel, a couple of reels, story backgrounds, a profile photo, a banner. Every one of those needs a different frame, so we plan for it instead of hoping for it.

Three looks, three backdrops, one morning

    • Look 1, Old San Juan streets: pastel walls and blue cobblestones, best before 9 in the morning
    • Look 2, Condado or El Escambrón: swimwear, resortwear and turquoise water
    • Look 3, a café, rooftop or hotel lobby: the clean, neutral backdrop for talking-head clips and product shots

Three locations within 15 minutes of each other means we change clothes twice, not five times, and we finish before the heat and the crowds.

A shot list that fills a month

    • Vertical full body for reels covers and pinned posts
    • Horizontal wide shots with negative space for banners and text overlays
    • Detail shots: hands, jewelry, product in use, texture
    • Walking and movement clips, five to eight seconds each
    • Two or three clean headshots for press, podcasts and collaborations

    Wardrobe that photographs well here

Solid colors and warm neutrals hold up against turquoise water and pastel walls. Avoid tight patterns, they fight with the background. Bring one bold color piece for the frames you want people to stop on, and something flowy for movement in video.

Photo and video in the same session

I shoot behind the scenes video alongside stills, so you leave with both. Short vertical clips are what actually push reach right now, and cutting them from the same looks keeps your feed cohesive.

What it costs and what you get

A creator session usually runs 90 minutes to two hours, two to three looks, with edited photos delivered in about two weeks and clips sooner when you need them for a launch. If you have a deadline, tell me and we plan the shoot around it.

Plan the posts first and the session almost shoots itself.
